Hoverglide: A kickstarter hiking backpack offering new and exciting technology

IMG_0683.JPG

Backpack technology is always changing but over the years there hasn't been any dramatic step forward. A new kickstarter wants to change that. The HoverGlide looks to be an interesting new design, and as an Engineer, their claims seem promising.

The HoverGlide backpack uses a elastic spring system on rails that allow the weight of the backpack to not accelerate up or down when walking or running. When a pack gains that acceleration it will increase the force it is applying to your body making the pack seem heavier and putting more stress on the joints.

The pack aims to reduce impact forces by up to 86%, reduce the amount of energy the body uses to carry the pack while moving, decrease chance of injury, and more. Without testing it is hard to verify these claims especially since the spring system probably adds weight to the overall pack. But, the technology seems hopeful.

I have not used the bag nor have I seen any reviews about it but seeing new technology like this come into fruition is nice to see. I will be keeping a watchful eye on this pack. If yo u want to know more check out their kickstarter page.
